Every now and then I hear about another Doomsday Cult, predicting the end of the world. I always wonder, when I hear about them, if their leader might be right! But, the predicted doomsday date comes and goes, and we are all still here. I expect one day there really WILL be a doomsday, but I think it will be caused by a nuclear weapons or chemical weapons act of war.
The most recent doomsday cult I’ve heard about is a Russian cult that believed that the world was coming to an end this month, and they were hiding in a cave. I guess they thought that by hiding in a cave they would survive the apocalypse. They threatened mass suicide if authorities tried to forcibly remove them from the cave. Eventually two women in the group died, and the stench of their rotting corpses is what finally drove the group out of the cave. I read that their group leader has tried to commit suicide because he was upset that the world did NOT end when he predicted it to end. Authorities have diagnosed him with schizophrenia. So I guess the voices in his head made him think that he could predict doomsday.
Well, I think that the world is in a lot of trouble, but I’m glad doomsday hasn’t happened yet!

I find it incredibly said, in this day and age that there is still so much ignorance and stupidity handed down from parent to child. I say this in regard to bigotry. There are so many hate crimes committed in this country, and I think that the parents of the perpetrators hold much of the blame. If the parents would teach their children to accept people for who they are, these hate crimes would not happen. The current hate crime that has come to my attention, which is triggering my tirade of the day is a story I read about two Mormon teenagers who were attacked in an Arizona park simply because they were Mormons. The story reads that there was a conflict between two groups of teenagers in the park. One group asked the other group if any of them were Mormons. When two young men admitted to being Mormon, they were assaulted. During the attack, anti-Mormon statements were said by the attackers. One of the victims was hospitalized because the wounds were severe enough to warrant being hospitalized. Two suspects have been arrested.
I don’t know what the maximum sentence of a hate crime is in Arizona, but I hope they get the maximum penalty! There simply is no excuse for Hate Crimes, and we should have a zero tolerance policy for them.

It seems to me that every time a religious organization is brought to my attention, it is because something bad has happened. We all know of the Roman Catholic Church scandals about priests sexually abusing choir boys, and how badly that has shaken up the Catholic Community. I think that it Catholic Church simply reassigning priests that were pedophiles was the wrong thing to do. I think that the priests involved should have been defrocked and prosecuted.
Anyway, the current Church scandal involves the leader of a cult Church called the Lord Our Righteousness Church has been arrested on charges of unlawful sexual contact with minors. This guy claims to be The Messiah and uses that claim to have sex with the women of his congregation and to have contact with naked virgin children under the age of eighteen.
This particular scandal reminds me of the cult religion lead by that maniac Jim Jones and how he manipulated so many people to follow his bidding.
I hope that they throw the book at this guy, he’s a nut case and a danger and should not be loose in society.

I’ve been following the news story that came to light last week about the Austrian woman who was kidnapped and imprisoned by her own father for 24 years! She was imprisoned in the basement of the family home. During that time she was sexually assaulted repeatedly by her own father and ended up having seven children by him! Once the police became aware of the situation, the woman and her children were rescued and the father arrested. The police have inspected the basement prison where the woman and three of her children were kept and say that the conditions were “oppressive” and the oxygen levels in the rooms were so low that they could not safely stay in the rooms for more than one hour. That makes me wonder how the poor woman and her children survived! I wonder if there was any kind of brain damage as a result of oxygen deprivation. And I really find it almost impossible to believe that the wife of the man who did this says that she knew nothing about it! The woman who was imprisoned states that her father sexually abused her since she was eleven years old, but did not imprison her until she was nineteen. So she was sexually abused for eight years before she was imprisoned, and the mother had no knowledge of that? How can you live so many years in a house and NOT realize that something weird is going on in your very own house before the imprisonment and then later on in the basement? That sounds very suspicious to me! I don’t believe it.
