Had to go to the pharmacy today to buy some allergy medicine. What a huge pain in the neck it is to have to go to the counter and present your driver’s license and ask permission to buy allergy medicine! They have to put your name and address and license number and gender and phone number in their database, and then they will only allow you to buy a certain allotment per month. And that allotment is NOT enough to get you through the month! What a huge pain this is, and all because some meth heads use this kind of medicine to make their illegal drugs. What is even more annoying is knowing that they also use drain cleaner and water softener salt to make their drugs, but you don’t have to register to buy THOSE products (yet!)

Well it’s on all of the news today that Barack Obama has announced that Joe Biden IS his pick for the VP running mate. I was very surprised to hear that - I’ve been hearing and reading so many articles that were saying that the author of the article strongly felt that the best choice would be Hillary Clinton. I think that if Hillary Clinton HAD been picked, then winning the election would have been a more “sure fire” bet because now I’m thinking that Hillary’s supporters are going to be so upset that they will vote for McCain simply because they are upset with Obama. This sure will make the election more interesting!
There was a nationwide recall of garlic bread in Australia, including the garlic bread sold by Domino’s Pizza. The recall happened because the bread turned blue when it was baked. The company that makes the garlic bread says that they don’t believe that the bread is a health hazard, but recalled it anyway. They have no explanation as to why it turns blue, they think it has something to do with the type of garlic that they used for this particular batch. I don’t think that makes a lot of sense, I’ve never heard of garlic turning blue when it is baked - and if there WAS a garlic that turns blue when baked it seems to me that would be widely known in the culinary arts industry to begin with. I think it sounds fishy to me!
I found it really sad that the folks in charge of the Olympics decided to have a seven year old girl lip sync a song during the Olympic opening season this week. I was reading that the officials decided that the girlwhose voice was used at the age of ten was “too old” to actually be the one to perform for the ceremony, and the seven year old girl’s voice was not good enough to use, so they recorded the ten year old girl’s voice and the seven year old lip synced the song. I think that is plain and simple a rotten shame, the ten year old who sang the song should have been the one who participated in the ceremony and gotten full credit for the song. Having a seven year old girl lip sync and get all of the applause is just plain and simple an immoral act.
I was surprised to hear that the State of Texas refused to follow President Bush’s order to delay (by 30 days)the execution of a Mexican citizen who was convicted of raping and murdering two teenage girls in Houston Texas. The delay was requested because it had been determined that when the man was arrested he was not told that he had the right to seek legal counseling from the Mexican consulate. Although I agree that the man deserved to be executed for his crime, it is unfortunate that the man’s legal rights were violated. This sets a dangerous tone for how the United States will be received in the international community if it continues to ignore international law.
