Sun, sand, and fun

One of the places on my “wish list” of travel destinations is Myrtle Beach.  I’ve heard so much about it from so many friends about how they have gone on vacation and stayed at one of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels and had a great time.  They’ve spent a lot of time on the hundreds of golf courses in the areas, but also went to some great shows, concerts, and amusement parks too.

Well, I’m not a big golfer, but I certainly would love to stay in an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel where the beach is on my doorstep!  That would just be so perfect, to be able to spend the day at an amusement park, go to a concert, and then spend some time relaxing on the beach before turning in for the night.

And just being able to walk out the door of the Myrtle Beach Hotel  and be right there on the sand is definitely a big selling point!  I”m getting too lazy to pack up the car full of beach chairs, ice chests, blankets and towels to go spend some time on the beach.  Just being able to sit in a chair that is already there, provided by the hotel, and be able to just carry ONE drink with me, and go inside if I want another one is my idea of a great beach vacation!

New retractable awning

Posted on August 7th, 2009 by Jerry under Home and garden, Life, Shopping.

Several weeks ago we ordered a new retractable awning.  It arrived last weekend, and a couple of my friends came over and helped me to put it up on Monday.  It took several hours, but we got it up without a hitch.  The awning goes over a small deck that we have off of the dining room.  According to the compass, the deck faces north, but it never seems to be very shady, so it is quite warm out there.  My wife has mentioned several times that she would sit out there on the deck more often if it wasn’t so hot out there, so I figured that this new awning just might do the trick.

So, the awning is up and functioning.  It has a great little remote control device that makes it go in and out.  Within seconds of the awning being extended, you can tell the difference in comfort!  It does make the dining room darker, but I think it also helps to keep the house cooler, so that is a plus.  I think we are going to be glad we got it!
