My nephew Mark think’s he’s a real Pick Up Artist. When we get together at restaurants on family occassions, he’s always practising his Pick Up Lines on any attractive young woman he might happen to run into. It doesn’t matter if the Pickup Lines are used on the waitress, or the cashier, or a cute young lady at the salad bar. It’s really rather funny to see this young Pickup Artist honing his skills. My wife just rolls her eyes and shakes her head when she sees him “checking out” the women.
I have to wonder what goes on in the heads of the women who are the objects of his attention! I wonder if they are flattered by his attention, or if they think he’s a blow-hard! So far I haven’t seen anyone laugh in his face, or slap him, so I guess he hasn’t “crossed the line” yet and deeply offended anyone. But I wish that Mark wouldn’t later brag about how he’s such a player just because he was flirting with the women he’d run into!
About six months ago I took our dogs to a local big-name chain pet store to have them both groomed. I didn’t have the time or energy to do it myself, and they really needed it. I usually take care of the grooming personally, but it just wasn’t going to happen. Anyway, I paid about eighty dollars (if I recall correctly) and they did a fair job. I thought that they had done a good job until I got home and found that they neglected to groom out the left hindquarter of one of the dog – it was still a mess! So I had to groom that part myself.
Anyway, yesterday I got home from running errands and found a message on my answering machine from that store that there were calling to remind me of the appointment on Monday to have both of my dogs groomed again! Well, I had never made another appointment for that, and after checking with my wife, we decided that we needed to give the pet store a call. The woman that answered the phone agreed to cancel the appointment and told me that they just always schedule another appointment for the dogs even if we didn’t ask for one! I think that is a sleazy thing to do! I can understand a courtesy call/reminder that it had been six months since the last grooming, and asking the owner to call to make an appointment, but to actually make it without the owner’s consent, well that is just wrong.
My wife has been talking about booking a room at a Myrtle Beach Resort for our next vacation. Her sister recently went to Myrtle Beach for a vacation, and she came back with glowing stories about how much she loved the amusement parks, the shopping, the food, and the beach. I understand that there are a lot of Myrtle Beach Resorts to choose from, so my wife says that she’s going to start looking now to see which one of the Myrtle Beach Hotels is affordable and located on the beach.
She says that she wants to rent a suite that has a separate living room and kitchen so that we’re not all cramped in one room and have to go out for every meal if we want to eat in. The convenience of having a full kitchen is great, and a suite is so much more comfortable; you feel like you can really stretch out and relax. And with a separate living room, if one person wants to watch some television while the other is napping, it helps to keep the peace in the relationship too!
