About six months ago I took our dogs to a local big-name chain pet store to have them both groomed. I didn’t have the time or energy to do it myself, and they really needed it. I usually take care of the grooming personally, but it just wasn’t going to happen. Anyway, I paid about eighty dollars (if I recall correctly) and they did a fair job. I thought that they had done a good job until I got home and found that they neglected to groom out the left hindquarter of one of the dog – it was still a mess! So I had to groom that part myself.
Anyway, yesterday I got home from running errands and found a message on my answering machine from that store that there were calling to remind me of the appointment on Monday to have both of my dogs groomed again! Well, I had never made another appointment for that, and after checking with my wife, we decided that we needed to give the pet store a call. The woman that answered the phone agreed to cancel the appointment and told me that they just always schedule another appointment for the dogs even if we didn’t ask for one! I think that is a sleazy thing to do! I can understand a courtesy call/reminder that it had been six months since the last grooming, and asking the owner to call to make an appointment, but to actually make it without the owner’s consent, well that is just wrong.

My wife has been talking about booking a room at a Myrtle Beach Resort for our next vacation. Her sister recently went to Myrtle Beach for a vacation, and she came back with glowing stories about how much she loved the amusement parks, the shopping, the food, and the beach. I understand that there are a lot of Myrtle Beach Resorts to choose from, so my wife says that she’s going to start looking now to see which one of the Myrtle Beach Hotels is affordable and located on the beach.
She says that she wants to rent a suite that has a separate living room and kitchen so that we’re not all cramped in one room and have to go out for every meal if we want to eat in. The convenience of having a full kitchen is great, and a suite is so much more comfortable; you feel like you can really stretch out and relax. And with a separate living room, if one person wants to watch some television while the other is napping, it helps to keep the peace in the relationship too!

There have been a lot of hang-up calls coming in on our home phone lately. My wife tells me that the hang-up calls are from a telemarketing company. I told her that I didn’t think that makes any sense at all since no one was trying to sell me anything! Then she claimed that there are companies that have their computers robo-call telephones and mark down if someone was home to answer the phone or not.
They use this information to create a list of when the best time is to call the house and then sell that list to companies that will really have someone call to try to sell us stuff. I thought that we were on the “do not call” registry, but maybe it’s expired. I think I’ll check it out and see if we are still on there. I don’t like getting these kinds of calls – sometimes I’m napping and it wakes me up, which is very aggravating!

I have to confess that I am not a wine expert. I don’t know the first thing about Wine Pairing; knowing which wine to drink with what food. All I recall is that red is with red meat and white wine is with white meat.
To be honest, there have been many times when I have gone to a restaurant and ordered a glass of wine, taking the suggestion of the waiter and been really sorry about that! I recently found a great website called supplewine.com that has Wine Reviews on it, and gives a lot of hints and tips about what food goes with what wine. I’ve bookmarked the site and I’m sure I’ll be using it a lot!
