I used to try to plant a garden of vegetables. I tried that for a couple of years. I tilled about a quarter acre of land out behind the house and planted peas, corn, snap beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and broccoli. I had visions of enjoying fresh produce at the table and saving a lot of money.
Well, it seemed that the neighborhood rabbits, deer, and raccoons, as well as the turtles and slugs really enjoyed my efforts. We managed to harvest only about 5% of what I planted! So I eventually gave up, realizing that I was better off just buying my produce!
But the gardening bug had bit me, so I turned my attention to flower gardening. But I decided to use my head and invest a lot of my efforts into container gardening. I reasoned that it may be easier to use containers than to till and weed the ground. So I use a lot of Planters in my garden plans. I like to use Garden Planters because I can move the tender plants indoors if the weather becomes too cold for them to survive. And it makes invasive plants easier to control! I also like to plan where to place each Decorative Planter to make the garden more visually interesting.

I can remember learning in college that prices of things were largely due to supply and demand, and competition. In this crazy economy, prices just are not making a lot of sense. For example, when there are a lot of people flying places the prices go up because the demand is high. So the airlines, for example, raise their prices during holiday travel time because the demand is high.
And yet, I heard on the news this week that the airlines are struggling because demand is lower because fewer people are flying. And because of that they are raising their prices again. That just does not make a whole lot of sense to me. If people are not flying because it is too expensive, then raising the prices is not going to fix that problem, is it?

Have you ever heard of thong Dance shoes? I never had until I saw my wife looking online for some new Dance shoes that she wanted to buy for her dance class. Apparently thong Dance shoes only cover the balls of the dancer’s feet. These particular shoes are meant to make the dancer appear to be dancing barefoot.
I thought that was very interesting, so I sat down beside her and watched over her shoulder while she continued looking for the shoes that she wants. I was really surprised to see how many different types and styles there are for Dance shoes! I guess I had always just thought that many of the dances I’ve seen perform were people wearing street shoes. I sure feel ignorant now! When I look at the Dance shoes that look like cowboy boots I wonder if they would be comfortable to wear and if they would last very long if worn outdoors, like regular footwear.

Do you have any relatives that are difficult to please when they come over to visit you? People who don’t like most foods, don’t like most games, don’t like most television shows or movies? After a while it gets very hard to figure out what to feed them and what to do with them to keep them entertained! You ask them for help in figuring out what to feed them or what activities to do with them and all you get is a shrug and “I dunno.” Can you tell I’m talking about a teenager? Today we had a teenaged relative come over for a visit and she reluctantly agreed to watch “The Princess Bride” movie we have. She was sure she would hate it. But you know what – she actually loved it! Well, how about that! Sometimes it pays to be a little bit pushy!
