Exotic places

Have you ever wanted to Travel to Argentina?  I had a teacher back in high school who spent several years living there as an English teacher in one of the schools.  She encouraged everyone to travel the world and see different countries; to experience the different cultures.  I think that if I had a lot of money, I would certainly include Argentina in my list of countries to visit.  I’ve heard that there are some really great Tours in Argentina that would be very exciting to participate in.  I think that if I were to travel to different countries, it would be great if I could take my time and stay several days in the Hotels in Argentina in the different cities.

I’d love to spend several days in Hotels in Buenos Aires and Hotels in El Calafateand simply explore everything the regions have to offer.  I’d like to do more than the traditional tourist attractions and actually get to know the people and experience the culture.  I think that if more people did that it would help to promote better compatibility among the different nations of the world.

Remembering our vets

Posted on November 11th, 2009 by Jerry under Life.

Today I picked up my mother and we went to the local veterans cemetery to place some flowers on my grandfather’s and my uncle’s gravesides. The cemetery looked very nice; there were lots of American flags flying and a lot of flowers. The caretakers of the cemetery did a good job of making the place look good. I also stayed and watched the local presentation that the town puts on, with speeches and music played by the local high school. It was a very good ceremony.  After the ceremony we sat on the granite memorial bench that my mother had purchased to place near the graves.  It was a good day.

Postcard from Sam

Posted on November 10th, 2009 by Jerry under Entertainment and Fun, Friends/Family, Life, Travel.

Got a postcard in the US Mail from Sam and his wife Denise today.  They are celebrating a second honeymoon in an Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel and wanted to let us know how much they are enjoying their visit.  They heard that a hurricane is moving in soon and are taking advantage of the calm before the storm by spending as much time on the beach as they can before the weather changes.

Once the weather turns stormy they’ll be spending more time inside their Myrtle Beach Hotel enjoying the amenities of the room, such as the private spa and the exercise room and swimming pool that many of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels have for their guests.  They also wrote that they are looking forward to going to some of the dinner theater performances that they’ve heard so much about from their kids that have gone there in the past.

If the weather holds of they even hope to hit at least one of the golf courses; they both enjoy the game and there are plenty of courses there to pick from!

Precious metal

Posted on November 2nd, 2009 by Jerry under Life, Money and Finances.

My family has for generations always invested some of our money in gold.  I can remember being given gold coins for special occasions like my twenty first birthday, and I gave a gold coin to each of my own kids when they reached their twenty-first birthday.  I think it is a nice tradition and I am quite comfortable in suggesting to my kids that they invest some of their money in gold bullion.

I would recommend that people store their precious metal coins and bullion in a safe deposit box, however.  With the current economy the way it is I have some concerns about people keeping valuables in their homes!  I’ve heard several friends tell me that they have safes in their homes that they keep their valuables in, but I really think that a safe deposit box is the better way to go.
