Yummy smells

One of my favorite things about this time of year is how good the house smells.  It seems that I am always smelling something yummy cooking!  Sometimes it is fresh bread, sometimes it is cookies or pies.  And of course there are the many great roasts being cooked in the oven that we often don’t cook during the summer.  Wonderful roast pork tenderloins, roast chickens, roast beef.  I gain five pounds just walking into the house every evening!

Dollars and Sense with Business Direct TV

Posted on December 15th, 2009 by Jerry under Entertainment and Fun, Life, Opinion, Technology and gadgets.

I really appreciate the businesses that provide their customers with Commercial Direct TV. I can be a real drag to be sitting for a long period of time, with nothing but a lot of old, out dated, torn up magazines to look through. Like the last time I took my car in to be inspected, you can’t make an appointment for a state inspection so you are basically at the mercy of the service center and some times there can be a long wait time involved, therefore I was there for 2 1/2 hours waiting for them to do what they had to do and slap a new sticker on my car. I try and have a book with me for such occasions, but that doesn’t always happen.

Direct TV Business packages are priced decent enough, so more and more businesses are signing up for Directv Business services, which is a real plus for their customer service initiatives. I just wish that more places had the remote available in order to change the stations. You know us guys like our remotes! Direct TV for Business just makes good sense and I hope that this is something that won’t fade away any time soon.

Cast In Stone

Posted on December 15th, 2009 by Jerry under Business, Computers and/or Internet, Entertainment and Fun, Home and garden, Opinion, Shopping.

I’ve always enjoyed the look of the stone benches that are becoming popular these days. I’ve seen some very nice stone garden benches online at stonebenches.com and have thought that I might one day go ahead and order. They are offering a wide variety of memorial benches and garden benches as well there that seem to be affordable and they accept Pay Pal, which is always a plus for me.I like that they are made in the U.S.A. from cast stone and that they offer free shipping.

You can find some deals online these days, no need to go hopping around from place to place in order to find what you need and want. With spring time not too far in the near future, I’d like to be able to have a few things ready to get going on around the place. I take great pride in having my yard looking good and always feel good getting my hands dirty with all that spring brings with it. The tilling, the planting, the weeding, it’s all good and all worth the time and effort that it takes to get it all done, producing and looking good.

Tennessee Treatment Providers

Posted on December 13th, 2009 by Jerry under Education and Personal Growth, Friends/Family, Health, Life, Opinion, Parenting, Travel.

It is a shame that families are spread out so much in this day and age. Back in the day most folks stayed close, living either on the same street or at least in the same town or county and they all looked after each other the best that they could.  My family has certainly spread out, but at least most are still in the U.S. and for the most part are on the east coast.

My oldest brother ended up in Tennessee with his wife and their kids. Tennessee is a beautiful state, we enjoy visiting them when we can and always enjoy the scenic drive up and back, as well. They seem to be doing well there, they have good jobs, a nice home and terrific kids. Of course there has to be at least one in bunch that makes life a challenge. In this case it would be their middle son.

This kid has had some issues with drug and alcohol, but they are doing what they can for him. In my brother’s last email, he informed us that they were checking into sending him into Tennessee Drug Rehab, sometime after the Christmas holidays are done and over with. Drug Detox isn’t something to play around with, so they want to make sure that the Residential Drug Rehab Center that they send him to will be a good and healthy environment that will help him through the whole Drug and Alcohol Rehab process.

The whole family is keeping them in their prayers. Drugs and Alcohol are bad news. The statistics on our teenagers and young adults that use drugs and alcohol are down right scary. We hope that my nephew will come out of treatment a much better person and live a long healthy and prosperous life.

Hot Beverages

Posted on December 13th, 2009 by Jerry under Food, Opinion.

Today is the type of day to sip on some hot chocolate or even better, some hot apple cider. I like mine with a splash of Caption Morgans Spiced Rum, it adds a little kick to it and warms the insides real nice like. I’m not much of a fan of alcoholic beverages but sometimes a nip or two is definitely warranted.
