Clever idea

Posted on January 11th, 2010 by Jerry under Friends/Family, Home and garden, Life, Shopping.

Not too long ago I saw my wife looking on the Internet at different wall mounted mailboxes.  I asked her what in the world are you doing?  Well, she is a decorative painter, and she loves to give hand painted items to people as presents.  Her latest idea for giving presents to friends and family members is to hand paint their house mailboxes for them.  I know that a couple of her siblings have beat-up old wall mount mailboxes  just barely hanging on the side of their houses, so I have to admit that she has come up with a great gift idea for them!

I think that she could do a great job of personalizing each wall mount mailbox to complement the interest of each sibling, or to dress up the house in a really fresh and exciting way.  And, it will be a gift that no one else would think to give them!  I have to hand it to my wife – she sure comes up with clever ideas from time to time!

Do you think they fixed it?

Posted on January 11th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Food, Life, Opinion, Parenting, Shopping.

I guess I’ll have to try it for myself and see if they really fixed it. I’ve tried their pizza a few times and never liked it. My kids always liked it, but it was the novelty of having it delivered. I hope they managed to fix it so it tastes good now!

Can you tell I like cars?

Posted on January 10th, 2010 by Jerry under Automotive, Friends/Family, Life, Opinion.

I imagine that anyone who comes to my blog and sees my WordPress Theme can tell that I happen to like cars – a lot!  One of my hobbies is to go to car shows and take lots of pictures of the cars at the show.  Another hobby is rebuilding cars in my garage in my spare time.  My next car that I want to restore is a 1970 Chevy Chevelle with a 409 big block!  The torque on these babies is tremendous!  It’s just like getting on a roller coaster!

My wife gets bored from looking at all of the car photos that I download onto my computer.  I guess she just doesn’t “get” my enthusiasm for cars.  Especially the older cars that the owners customize with after market accessories!

Now my wife, she gets a lot more excited about looking at new cars.  She’s been wanting to buy a kia since back in 1998 when she was thinking about buying a new four wheel drive vehicle to commute to work.  At the time, though, the car reviews were not very flattering about the kia car and she ended up buying a Subaru Outback Sport.  That car has needed some repairs off and on, but one of the things about Subarus is that if you take really good care of it those cars will run almost forever!

The biggest complaint we have about that little car is the road noise;  I think that if they had insulated the roof better we would like it much better!

Holiday Leftovers

Posted on January 5th, 2010 by Jerry under Food, Opinion.

Something that is good about the holidays being over and done with are the left overs that flowing over in the fridge. I love turkey sandwiches with Swiss cheese on rye bread. And I can eat ham over and over for days at a time, speaking of ham, it’s dinner time, I’m outta here………

It’s All About The New Baby

Posted on January 5th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Computers and/or Internet, Education and Personal Growth, Entertainment and Fun, Life, Opinion, Parenting, Shopping.

It seems that these days more men are being invited to baby showers. I don’t know about most guys, but they really are not something that I have much interest in. I’ve been dragged to a few in my time, but I don’t look forward to attending any more any time soon, if you know what I mean. The last one that the wife insisted I attend was decent enough, most of us guys that were in attendance stayed in the den with a football game on the nice big screen TV, with HD, that was on the whole time of the party. No one even noticed that we were gone, with all the game playing, picture taking and gift giving and unwrapping going on.

We did manage to provide the new mother with some nice gifts that the wife found online. We found jellycat products along with some wow toys, barefoot dreams, skip hop, envirosax, petunia pickle bottom, and appaman merchandise as well at loulouscorner.com. They are known for unique gifts, baby toys and designer baby clothes. Lou Lous Corner is an online speciality boutique that offers free shipping for orders $65 and over and has same day shipping for orders placed by 1pm EST. My wife discovered Lou Lous Corner a few years back and has used it many a times, so I thought I’d give a shout out about them for a change of pace in this mainly male dominated blog.
