Ask for help

Do you remember taking a lot of different math classes in high school? I took a lot of what were called “College Prep” courses, and there were a lot of math classes that had to be taken before a college would even consider taking you. I did pretty well in most of the classes, but once I got into college and had to take statistics, well that was a whole different ball game!

I got quite confused about exactly how to solve the statistics problems that were assigned as homework. I had to sign up for free statistics help that the college offered in the way of a statistics tutor. That was the first time in my life that I ever needed that kind of help, and it was a humbling experience. But it sure did help! I actually passed the course with a B.

If you find that you need help with a class, don’t be afraid to ask the teacher for help in getting a free tutor. They will point you in the right direction. They may suggest an online tutor, or may suggest a face-to-face tutor. But one thing is for sure, if they care about you, as a student, they will help you out!

Bank of America done me wrong

When my hubby was injured in my car accident in 2007, I tried to get my mortage company for our house in New England that we were trying to sell to grant me a hardship forebearance. Since he wasn’t able to work due to my injuries, I was hopeful to get some empathy from the company. Boy, was I wrong!

Long story short, the mortgage company has dropped the ball and tossed me around from department to department, where I have been met with gross incompetence at every turn.

After over two years, even though we FINALLY did a deed-in-lieu with the company last November, and the deed to the house was transferred into their name in December the company is continuing to send me notices that I owe them the money and the company is still sending notices to the credit agencies that the mortgage is overdue. This is resulting in credit card companies closing my credit cards or lowering my credit limits.

Every time I call Bank of America I am shuttled around from department to department, and told the matter will be escalated and someone will call me back within the next week. That never happens. I have called them about once every two weeks, and nothing is resolved. I have sent them letters, and I get replies that someone will contact me within 20 days, and that never happens either! I got collection calls several times a day for years on end until I finally blocked their telephone number!

As of today, I have been on the phone with Bank of America for the past four hours, being shuttled around from department to department, trying to find some help. I’m on hold at the moment, waiting for a supervisor to talk to me. The lady I just spoke with said that my account was in the process of being assigned to someone in the home retention department!

I have contacted my state senator Mark Warner’s office, asking for help a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t heard back from them yet.

Anyone know a good lawyer that would like to sue this company on my behalf to get this resolved and maybe some punitive damages for emotional distress it is causing? I had hired a lawyer that I was told is an agressive lawyer that loves to sue people, but for some reason he just doesn’t seem to be in the mood to take this on! If you know of a class-action suit going on for people in situations like this, or know a good lawyer that could/would help me, please post comment to this blog and I’ll get the information!

Can you feel my pain?

Age is Only a number

Most of us have heard the expression “Age is only a number” and the popular “Your only as old as you feel”. Well, I am a firm believer that those are more than expressions, those are a way of life for those who embrace it and live that way. Me and my husband have been married for 50 absolutely magical years. Even though I grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Michigan I was able to eventually cross paths with my future husband Bill while I was visiting some family out in California when I was only 12 years old. From that day on I knew Bill was for me and he tells me he also knew that I was for him. So, after birthing 5 children, living in 8 different states, and having 3 grandchildren it is to be expected we have slowed down a bit from our youth, at least for awhile anyway.

It was a typical Friday in Florida type weather when over our morning coffee Bill asked me how I would feel about if we sold the house and moved into a senior living facility. At first I was dead set against it. But after a few weeks Bill had convinced me to at least go over there and have a look. So reluctantly Bill and I went to the senior “campus” as they call it and as they say the rest is history. I absolutely loved the place! There were seniors everywhere, and they all where laughing and doing stuff. Four weeks later Bill and I moved in and the first night we went to a senior health spa to pamper ourselves. It was heaven! I didn’t want to leave the spa. The next night we were at an old time box dinner and I noticed that Bill and I seemed to be asking people to repeat things to us. But others were not asking us to repeat things. Then it clicked, everyone has hearing aids but Bill and I. So, Bill and I got a hearing test, which proved we both had hearing loss. Two hearing aids later and it was like a whole new world opened up to us and we were kids again! I felt like a teenager. staying out late and “playing” with our new friends in the center and hearing every bit of it! Age really is only a number.

Have you ever

Posted on May 15th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Computers and/or Internet, Shopping.

Have you ever gone to some kind of trade show and collected all of the free promotional items that the companies hand out?  My wife and I really enjoy doing that as often as possible.  We have found some really useful and interesting items out there!  One of my favorite products that I’ve received in the past at a trade show is a collapsible can cozy.  What I like about it so much is that it fits into the cup holder of my car!  So not only does it keep my can of soda cool, I can park it in the cup holder and not have to hold the can between my legs while I’m driving.

I’ve tried for months to find a retail source to buy some of those cozies.  The ones that I have now are falling apart, after four years of hard work.  And yes, I have to admit that I lost one of them by accidentally leaving it on the roof of my car and driving away.  When I realized it was gone I turned around to look for it (I saw where it had fallen off) but a pedestrian had already removed it.  So now I’m down to one, and that one is falling apart.

The company that was passing them out as a promotion no longer has any to give out!  So, I’ve been searching in vain on the Internet to find a retailer that sells them.  Or I have to convince a friend that owns a business to buy them in bulk from a company like paragonpromotions.com.  I found them today when I was searching online (again) for a place to buy a few of the cozies.  So let me encourage you, if you have a business and want to buy some cozies, to visit them here to look at their vast collection of promotional products.  You can read their overview here.  I was poking around on their site and found that they have a good guide to read about how to use promotional products to advertise your business!  If you buy some cozies from the to promote your business, would you please mail me a couple?  I love those things!
