Priorities

Sometimes I wonder where people’s priorities are. I don’ know whether to laugh or cry when my wife are driving around the poorer areas of town where the houses are ramshackle and falling down yet fancy new cars with black rhino wheels are parked in their driveways. I understand that many people feel that their cars are status symbols and want other people to look up to them as if they are wealthier than they are, but I cannot understand how they can justify buying the big fancy expensive cars with the big fancy expensive accessories when the house they live in is literally falling apart around their ears.

Reliability

Is it just me, or are people becoming less reliable? My wife wanted to go to a breakfast meeting this morning that started at 8:30 and a friend of hers said she was also going to the meeting and she would stop by and pick her up and take her so that they would carpool and save some money. My wife told her friend that in order to get to the meeting on time that they needed to leave our house at 8:00. The friend said fime, no problem, she would be here at 8:00. Well at 8:06 shr is a no-show, so my wife calls her friend and gets her voice mail and leaves a message saying are you coming please call me and let me know. At 8:25 my wife calls her again and this time she answers the phone and says I’m sorry I stayed up late last night didn’t get to bed until midnight and I’m just to titred. Then my wife said OK, no problem see you later and hung up.

But my wife was upset and so was I because if my wife had known that her friend was not coming she would’ve made other arrangements to get to the meeting on time and now it’s too late to get there at all. As far as I’m concerned this is just one example of how unreliable people are getting to be in this day and age; it’s very discouraging

I think a lot of us that still had power spent a good amount of time online over the weekend while waiting out the hurricane threat that had everyone so worried. I hear that Facebook was having issues keeping up with the demand of folks trying to communicate with their loved ones, which is what we were all urged to do in order to keep the cell phone lines from jamming up. And now they have made some changes that a lot of folks are not happy about having to learn and deal with.

I know that I spent most of my time online as well. It was the perfect opportunity to just kick and back and do some good old fashioned Internet surfing. I don’t generally play a lot of games online, but since there wasn’t a lot else to do I decided to check and see what kind of new games are out there and I was surprised to find so many girl games available these days. I remember when our daughter was younger and was looking for games to play on her computer and found that there was a serious lack of girl games for her to get into. You know the kissing games, make up games, dress up games, cute little animal games and stuff like that that girls seem to enjoy during that pre-teen age, they just were not there for her.

Although my daughter is way too old to enjoy any of these kinds of games, or at least I would like to think that she is, I’m glad to see that the void has been filled at http://www.easygirlgames.com. So if you know of any girls looking for a wide variety of fun girl games I would urge you to let them know about this interesting site.

And no, I didn’t not play any of them!

How Would Like Him As a Roommate?

I remember how much I really enjoyed playing the Super Mario Brothers game when it first came out. I was just browsing around Youtube and stumbled on this funny video about having Mario as a roommate. I thought it was a riot!

I went on my damage patrol this morning, happy to report that it seems pretty minimal around here. All of the trees held up good, only losing some branches here and there that are now scattered through out the neighborhood. We all did a good job preparing for Irene and our hard work seems to have paid off.

One thing that will need some attention are the Apartment Mailboxes that are now all twisted and bent, leaning over only a few inches from the ground from last night’s high winds. We have an apartment complex down the street and they just installed some new Cluster Mailboxes a few years back, guess they should have invested in better quality CBU Mailboxes to begin with. The owner/landlord is well known for being cheap, when will he learn that it takes money to make money. I’ve talked with some of his tenants through out the years and some of the stories that they have told me just makes me want to go over there and jack the guy up.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call him a slum lord, but I just think that he should do a better job in providing these hard working families with a nicer and safer place to raise their families. I’m sure that if he had taken his time and spent just a few more dollars on these Commercial Mailboxes that they would have held up much better during this whole hurricane business. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.
