Jerry Loggins Notes

Notes on life, family and friends by Jerry Loggins

With all of the news that I hear, almost on a weekly basis, about computer hackers getting into some big corporations website and gaining access to sensitive information, like employee’s payroll information, or customer’s credit card information, there needs to be an increased effort to keep this type of information safe from unscrupulous people. So when I found a website that gave free information about ISO27001 and free downloads, to help companies learn about how to keep their proprietary and confidential information safe, I was both happy and skeptical about the website. I guess I have to do a little bit more research on my own to determine if this is on the up-and-up or not.

Just Not Funny

Last night my wife was watching America’s Funniest Videos.  I was having a bowl of my favorite ice cream of the month at the table and started watching it too.  There were some videos that were amusing, like the cute babies, the funny dancing and of course the wacky animal clips, but I was surprised how many videos were on the air that involved people getting hurt.  How is getting hurt funny?

Going GREEN is certainly a major issue and is playing a key role that is being embraced by so many people and businesses all around the country and most of the rest of the world as well. Good, productive, positive and constructive efforts are being made in this effort to keep our mother earth from being too ill to take care of each and every one us all in the future.

A colleague of mine has been researching some of the new outdoor wood furnaces that are on the market, in an effort to find the wood furnace accessories for his newly purchased earth friendly outdoor wood furnace. I was privy to this task taking place online and found the prospect of an outdoor wood heating source of major interest.

I like many of the features that make this a high quality energy alternative product has to offer. So I’ve been looking into the prospect of purchasing one, reducing my annual heating costs all year round, while reducing my dependency on foreign fuels, with totally renewable fuels.

I’d be doing my part in going GREEN, although I do my part almost every day, I’ve always been an avid recycler considering my parents were from the hippie generation and they brought us up with a lot of their beliefs and concerns about our Mother Earth since day one. Recycling only makes sense and the city that I live in provides curbside recyclables pick up, which makes this small task so much easier for it’s citizens.

And most of us are keenly aware of the numerous Benefits of Solar Power Energy which is a very hot topic these days. I was just reading a post on Facebook that an old high school buddy put on there about how Germany set a solar record last weekend by generating nearly half of its total electricity with photovoltaics! Just think of all the good we could accomplish if everyone in every country all around the world would and could use Renewable Energy. It just boggles my mind.

He posted this picture as well.

I am so happy that I have started saving videos onto my Favorite’s List on You Tube. I have been finding so many awesome songs that I can play at any given time on my laptop. I wish I had started this list years ago, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, you can’t get much better than that!

Gift Ideas

Coming up with romantic gift ideas has always been a challenge for me and with our wedding anniversary coming up in July I’ve been seeming to beat my head up against the wall trying to come up with something this year. I wish that I could sweep the old gal up off of her feet and take her on a cruise to some romantic island, but what the economy still in such a mess I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
