One of the things that I try to avoid as much as possible is cleaning house. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy having a clean house, and I don’t even mind doing the work to get the house clean. The problem is that it is a never-ending, uncompensated, unappreciated job that only gets noticed when it is not done. One of my biggest complaints about cleaning house is that no one in this house even CARES about how dirty or messy it is. As many times as I remind people the old adage “A place for everything, and everything in its place” no one cares enough to bother to put things away.
Consequently no one can find anything when they need it, the house is cluttered, and the clutter makes cleaning very difficult. Sometimes I wonder just how soon the producers from “Hoarders” will be knocking on our door asking if they can come in and use our family for one of their episodes!
My wife used to keep the house spotless until we had children. Then all heck broke loose! Working full-time, taking college courses at night, and chasing toddlers around the house just wore her out. She realized that all of the people who claim that the working mothers can “have it all” meant that they can have all of the stress and none of the fun! She decided that she was just going to have to lower her standards and give up trying to keep the house neat and tidy. We tried hiring house cleaning services, but the clutter generators were so fast that the cleaning companies really weren’t able to get much cleaning done!
Now that I’ve found this website that will buy my uses DVDs, games, Blu-Rays and CDs, I am going to help my wife declutter this place as much as I can, and try to round up some of our old stuff and turn it into money! I like the idea of getting paid to clean our own house!
