Janice was telling me that she was thinking about buying a small motorbike from a vendor on Hipswap, and aked me if I would go with her to check the bike out. She wants to buy it for her sixteen year old daughter that just got her learners permit. Seems that her daughter has no interest in learning how to drive a car, but wants to drive a motorcycle instead. I did not think that you could legally get a motorcycle driver’s license if you did not first have your license to drive a car! Well, this motorbike is only $500 and the owner claims that it has only been run a couple of hours; only needs a tune-up.

I told Janice that if she would set up the meeting for next weekend then I would go take a look at the bike with her. But this weekend just is too busy for me to go anywhere, what with trying to get the house ready for family coming over for Easter dinner and all. I want to get the lawn mowed and the siding power washed and the gardens weeded. And my wife has asked me to shampoo the carpets in the living and dining room as well.

Most of the time when I run errands in the truck I listen to the radio. We don’t have a lot of stations to pick from out here, so I have two choices: either classic rock or new country.

Sometimes I wish we could get a radio station that does only classic country, but I don’t even know if such a radio station exists. When I think of country music, I think of the George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Charlie Daniels, Tanya Tucker type of performers.

All the songs by these new country singers sound so much alike that I don’t know who is singing what song anymore. Unless the radio station happens to mention the name of the song and the artist, I have no clue who is singing, and most radio stations have gotten rid of their live disc jockeys so we never hear anything but the songs and then they go right to commercials.

Yesterday I was driving home to get my wife and take her to dinner and ran over a huge nail. Yeah, you guessed it, a flat tire! So I pulled over and put on my hazard lights. Said a couple of curse words and called my wife on my cell phone to tell her I was going to be late picking her up. Although I had to stand on the top of my truck bed, I’m lucky there was cell phone signal at all in that area – it is a notorious dead spot!

Anyway, I got out my tire jack and spare tire and got ready to change the tire. As I knelt down to start to remove the lug nuts I noticed something unusual – a $100 bill sitting there on the road! No houses or cars in sight, just a $100 bill! Well, you can imagine that I felt pretty good about that flat tire then! Well, maybe not so good, but that $100 bill sure helped to pay for the tire repair and give me a little extra money to take my wife out to eat!

One of the best gifts that I received this past Christmas was the sheepskin luxury car seat covers that my mother-in-law gave to me. I don’t know why I haven’t used any sheepskin products and accessories before, but this has opened up my eyes to how wonderful these sheepskin seat covers can be.

Next year for Christmas I now know what I will be buying for several friends and family members, sheepskin luxury car seat covers, for those that don’t have any in their vehicles at that time. Most people are under the impression that leather seat covers are the best but they can be really sticky in the summer time with the heat and humidity and are very cold in the winter months, for people that don’t have those nice luxury seat heaters that are all the rage for the newer vehicles that folks are buying and using.

So I’m going to start looking around and pricing various sheepskin seat covers and start picking them up here and there through out the year, taking advantage of special sales and discounts that I discover along the way. And by the time next Christmas is here I will have taken care of a good amount of the shopping before hand which will be a great way to deal with all of the gifts that we have to get each and every Christmas holiday.

We can always tell when our regular mail carrier isn’t working. We have had the same mail carrier for over 7 years now and he always does a great job getting the right mail to the right person and in the right mailboxes. So when we start getting other people’s mail in our mailbox we can bet our bottom dollar that, for what ever reason, there is a substitute carrier on the job.

I wouldn’t want the job of being a mail carrier these days for a variety of reasons. It must be a real drag to have to get up early and go to work in the rain, hail, snow, sleet or what ever the weather is because we all know that no matter what the weather brings us the mail will be delivered unless of course we have a hurricane or a an earthquake of a large magnitude that brings everything to a dead stop.

Mail carriers are still driving their personal cars out here in the boonies, which means that they have to drive while sitting in the middle of their front seat and stretch all the way over in order to get the mail in and out of all of the mail boxes, which must be a real pain in the neck (and various other body parts as well) but better than getting in and out of the vehicle at every stop. That in itself would keep me from getting a job as a country mail carrier, while the city ones are using the vehicles specifically made with the steering wheel and pedals on the right side instead of on the left.
