Best by dates

Posted on December 1st, 2011 by Jerry under Food, Health, Life.

Last night I was in the mood to snack.  I don’t know why, I just seemed like I couldn’t get full!  And it didn’t make any sense to me at all because I had eaten plenty of protein, which sticks to my ribs better than anything else.  I don’t know, maybe I was just bored, or stressed.  All I know is that my stomach was growling at me and I felt hunger pains that just would not stop!  I was going nuts trying to find something to eat that would not be terrible for me.  Cookies and chips were calling out to me; it was so hard to resist!  And I know that experts say to eat fruit, but that makes me even hungrier!

So I scrounged around the pantry and found some microwave popcorn that had been sitting there a long time.  It had a “best if used by” date on it that was over a year old.  I considered throwing it away, but then I decided I’d pop it and see if it smelled or tasted bad; if so, then I’d toss it away.  Well, I think it had a few more “old maids” than normal, but not bad, and it tasted just fine.  And today I’m alive and well, so I guess maybe today I’ll eat that second bag of expired popcorn!

Buyer Beware

Posted on November 26th, 2011 by Jerry under Business, Health, Life, Opinion, Shopping.

I was very disturbed today when I went into my local drugstore to buy some vitamins and saw that the expiration date on the bottle I picked up was October of 2008!  I brought that bottle to the attention of the store manager, and she thanked me for bringing it to her attention and said she’d take care of it.  I decided to spot check a few other items at the store while I was there because I was curious to see if that was an isolated accident.  Sad to say that I found quite a few things that had passed the expiration date.  I guess I’ll be checking expiration dates on more things that I buy in the future!

Compression Stockings and Compression Socks

Posted on November 9th, 2011 by Jerry under Business, Computers and/or Internet, Friends/Family, Health.

With varicose veins running rampant in my family I have become pretty familiar with many of the issues that go along with this painful medical condition that these good folks have to deal with on a daily basis. I remember when m kid sister was having major issues with her varicose veins and they decided to put her in the hospital and strip the veins out, how this was so traumatic and painful that whole process was. Then only to find out that the darned things grew back not too long after.

We are always on the look out for new and exciting products that become available for people that suffer from varicose veins. Good quality, but affordable compression hose (stockings) and compression socks are always being searched for, since these compression items can really make a big difference in their quality of life.

The wife just found a great link that has Allegro, Jobst, Sigvaris, Medivan, Juzo and other well known brand name Compression Products that she is exciting about finding and passing along to the family members that could use this information. The fact that they have Free Shipping is always a plus at this point and time right?

Pass It Along

Posted on October 24th, 2011 by Jerry under Business, Computers and/or Internet, Friends/Family, Health, Money and Finances, Opinion, Shopping.

It just doesn’t seem right that after dealing with Acne for so long in our teenage years and sometimes well into young adulthood(and some folks even longer than that) that when we reach our midlife years that we should have to worry once again about our faces and all the skin issues that go along with aging.

The wife is totally freaking out about her skin issues and has been talking about a product that she has heard about called Resurgence. Today when I was listening to YouTube there was a side banner from Resurgence that I decided to click on which allowed me to learn more about it. The good news is that I have learned that you can find Murad Coupon Codes at murad.com/promo-codes.jsp to help defray the cost of many of these products, which is always a plus.

So if anyone of my readers are interested in what Resurgence has to offer and would like access to these money saving coupon codes, please take notice and pass it along as well. It’s all good!

Don’t you just hate it?

Posted on October 7th, 2011 by Jerry under Health, Life.

Don’t you just hate it when a bruise pops up on your body and you can’t remember what you bumped into, and when you bumped into it?  I have a bruise on my right arm – right where a nurse would give me a shot.  And it feels like a got a shot in the arm there.  And I can feel a lump!  But I haven’t had a shot in that arm in many many years!  I don’t know if I should just shrug it off or call the doctor!  The bump is the part that worries me a little bit; I’ve never really noticed a bruise to have a lump in it!  Hmm…. well, come to think of it there have been “bumps on my head” or should I say “knots” when I was a kid and hit my head on something.  I guess if it doesn’t get better in a few days I’ll give the doctor a call.
