I’ve heard that getting concert and special event tickets are much easier today than back in the day that used to attend many of functions. The Internet has made this tedious and time consuming task a much easier one to tackle with sites like acheapseat.com around for today’s events. You can get WANG THEATRE TICKETS, or BOSTON OPERA HOUSE TICKETS or even the much sought after Air Canada Centre Tickets just by spending a few minutes on your computer and having your credit or debit card handy.
No more waiting until a certain time on a certain day manning the phones trying to get a ticket(s) for the event that you’ve been waiting so long to attend. I’ve even spent time in horrendously long and winding lines in order to get just any ticket I could get my hands on much less trying to get one of the best seats in the house. One thing that I’ve never done and I just can’t see me ever attempting to do is to camp out over night for a ticket. Now that is just crazy and there isn’t any type of performance or performer worth going through all of the hassle. Even if the Beatles were all still alive and were to put on a show, my butt sleeps in my nice soft warm bed every night, thank you very much!

It is a known fact that if you can speak more than one language that you will be much more marketable in the always busy and competitive job market. Most people don’t even realize that they know as much Spanish as they do. How can you not watch TV or movies and not pick up on the numerous Spanish words that are constantly being thrown out at us on a daily basis. I bet if you really sat down and though about it you could spout out at least 10 Spanish words that you know just from watching cartoons as a kid.
Right now translations services are paying good money for people in the language translation service field. There are so many languages that are being spoken every day here in the good old U.S. of A that it would be beneficial to speak as many languages as you can. I would think that being in the professional translation services industry would be an interesting one. All the different people that you would and could be talking to, pretty cool conversations to engage in, I just think it would be such a blast!

My eleven year old niece spends a good amount of time on the lap top that Santa Claus brought to her last Christmas. She is a good kid and she certainly deserved getting a nice computer of her own. Lap tops aren’t cheap and times are tight so she must be doing something right in order to have lap top that is top notch and makes mine look like a K-Mart model – LOL!
Anyway she keeps busy after school and on the weekends playing “girl games” online. They have come a long way with the selection of girl games that are available these days. There was a major outcry for more girl games about 10 years ago and they have tried to fill the void to accommodate the female population that likes to play games with all of today’s technology and gadgets.
I think Ms Pac Man was actually the first video game that was aimed at the more feminine crowd. We have come a long way since the 80′s haven’t we. If I had all the money that I spent on those games that were in all of the popular bars and taverns, I’d have a nice check book balance.

One of my favorite inventions for the computer is the thumb sized flash drive. I can remember when I bought my very first one, it cost about $25, and only had abou 128MB of storage space on it! I thought it was wonderful! (Actually I still think it is wonderful!) In more recent years, I found I could buy an 8GB one for less than what I had paid for my first 128MB one! I’m glad they are getting cheaper!

The news that grabbed my attention this week was the story about a German couple who placed an ad on E-Bay, offering their baby for sale! The couple now claims it was a “joke” but the baby has been placed in protective custody. The ad was only on “the air” for two hours before Ebay removed the ad, and no offers had been placed during those two hours. When Ebay removed the ad they assisted the police track down the couple. The ad claimed that the baby was being sold because it was “too loud.”
I have to say that this is another case where I think these people are NUTS! I’m glad that the baby was placed in protective custody and I hope the parents never get it back! And I hope that the parents are locked up for a very long time. This is a case when I think that the courts out to have the right to force sterilization on people, because in my own opinion people like this should never be allowed to have children again!

I’ve been reading, and watching articles about the lions mane jellyfish that was responsible for stinging a lot of people in New Hampshire this past week. There are so many conflicting reports about that simple incident that it makes me wonder what is the truth of it all. Some reports say that the jellyfish was angry and stinging people. Others say that most of the people were stung after it was ashore and already dead. If it’s already dead, how angry can it be? Some reports say it washed ashore, others say that the life guards brought it ashore.
If our reporters can’t report the actual truth about something this mundane, how can we expect the truth about really important political issues?

The wife and I are going to be celebrating yet another wedding anniversary come the end of August. Man these years are just passing away like crazy, time flies when you are having fun! It is always a challenge trying to find the perfect gift for my wife each year. I mean first there is her birthday, then there is Christmas and then along comes the anniversary, not to mention Valentine’s Day!
I believe that this year I will be looking online to find her favorite Cologne. Good thing she still has a little left in the bottle on her dresser for me to get the name off of the darn thing. I can never remember what it is called, even after 30 years of being with the woman! The Internet will make finding one of her favorite Fragrances a much easier task to take on. It was a real pain in the rear in the years before the Internet when I used to have to bounce around from store to store in order to find it each time. A man like me just doesn’t feel comfortable in the Perfume department, ya know what I’m saying?
Anyway I do believe that a nice dinner and a nice gift will make it an evening to remember, at least until the next one rolls around in only 12 months.

After checking my email this morning, my browser defaulted to a webpage that featured a story about tiny hotel rooms, complete with photos. Some of the rooms were so tiny that I am sure that I would get claustrophobic trying to sleep in one! One featured platform beds in some renovated drain pipes. That’s a novel idea indeed, but it only had a bed in it! What about temperature control? One of the hotels was in an airport and had no bathroom, saying that the customer could use the restrooms in the airport. I guess those folks aren’t supposed to need a shower or bath! And I had heard about the Japanese hotels where the rooms are only slightly bigger than a casket; this article had photographs of the rooms. Those rooms put me in mind of a sleeping berth in a sleeper car in a train.
Well, those are all novel ideas, but I’ll tell you this – give me a standard hotel room, complete with fancy bedroom sets that include a dresser and night stands, and a real bathroom with a shower in it! When I travel, I need room to stretch, and I don’t want to have to wait in line with a with a bunch of strangers to use a bathroom in the middle of the night!

Seems as if a lot of our friends and relatives have been moving down to North Carolina over the past few years. They seem to think that Wilmington NC real estate is a good investment, and they are enjoying the milder winters and the “genteel” lifestyle that “The South” has to offer.
One of my cousins has been studying up to get her realtors license because she thinks that she can actually make a living selling Wilmington NC real estate. Right now I would have a really hard time believing that anyone can make a living as a realtor!
I can’t remember the last time I’ve ever been to North Carolina other than to simply drive through on my way to Florida! I can’t really say that it looked much different than Virginia to me, but who am I to say?
