Protecting the house with baby gates

Whenever Troy comes over with his dog Munchkin, the first thing I do is grab the pet gates  from the mud room and install them in the two kitchen doorways to keep the dog from running loose throughout the house.  I used to let Munchkin just run loose throughout the house but a while back he had decided to use the bed in the guest room as his toilet and my wife was clearly very unhappy about that.

I can remember when our kids were young we had used baby gates to keep the kids out of trouble, but they are good for keeping friend’s dogs out of trouble too.  My favorite kind of gate is the kind that is pressure mounted but is a “walk-thru” gate that actually has a gate within the gate that you can open and walk through it. They are a little bit tricky to install, but once you have it installed correctly the convenience of being able to walk through it is well worth the extra effort.

Have you even been bitten by a frog?

Personally, I have never been bitten by a frog. To be perfectly honest, I would not have expected a frog bite to actually hurt. They don’t have teeth, and they don’t have beaks, so I really would not have thought for one minute that a frog bite would hurt! So I was very surprised when a friend posted this video on Facebook and at the end of the video I am given the distinct impression that a frog bite hurts. I can’t tell if it is just a reaction of surprise, or of pain.  Is it just a strong pinch feeling? Have YOU ever been bitten by a frog?

Memory Foam Dogs Beds

I really wish that I had known about the memory foam dogs beds that are on today’s market a few years ago when our aging dog Rags was having a difficult time moving around due to old age. I’m sure that she was suffering from some type of arthritis and it broke our heart when in her last days with us that she would barely have the strength to get up to do her business by going out the doggy door that we installed just for that reason. If I had known about these orthopedic dog beds I certainly would have supplied Rags with one the moment she looked like she needed one.

These memory foam dog beds are a great idea for our four legged canine friends. If and when we get another dog I will make sure that we have one of these around when we need it. I know that memory foam beds do wonders for people so it only makes sense that our pets would benefit from all that they have to offer for them.

How would you feel if your father started to smoke Black and Mild cigars? I was really surprised when we dropped by his house to find him smoking a cigar. I’ve never seen him smoke anything in his life! You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw that! He told me that it was a gift from one of the guys at work, celebrating his new baby boy, and he decided to give it a try. Right about then Mom came home and chased him out of the house, telling him that she would not allow anyone to smoke anything in the house and she didn’t care WHO he was! Then she ran around the house waving a kitchen towel around, turning on the exhaust fans and opening the windows to get the smoke out of the house. Our dog Spooky, excited by all of the action and noise chased her around the house barking like crazy! I laughed until my sides ached!

Just Google It

There are still way too many senior citizens out there that are still intimidated with the Internet although the numbers are on the rise for our seniors buying computers in order to use the email function alone in order to keep in touch with friends and family members that are so important to keep in touch with. Families are spreading out more and more, the days of families staying in the same city, town or county or even in the same state are long gone. Folks are moving around all over the country, mainly for employment reasons and the numbers of people leaving the good old U.S. of A are still high as well.

I know my folks are both pretty much up to speed on their computer at home. And I hear that they are trying to help some of their elderly friends get on to the Wide World Web and use it more than just for email and photo sharing. Just yesterday one of her friends needed help in finding a Carpet Cleaning Company in Driftwood to come to her residence to assist with dealing with pet urine problems that her two French Poodles are causing with their recent purchase of wall to wall carpeting. Hearing my mother tell her to just Google “Carpet Cleaning Driftwood” a few times and hearing the frustration in her voice when she realized that her friend had no idea how to Google something. It was late and my mother was tired so she just went on to her computer and Googled it and came up with http://www.thesteamteam.com/austin-carpet-cleaning/ and ended up sending the link to her friends email in hopes that it would make it easier for everyone all the way around.
