I was told some time ago about a really cool website that I should check out at http://yitzgrossmanlawrence.com. Unfortunate for me I didn’t take quick action on it, but last night I had a few minutes to kill online and I’m glad that I did take the time to find it and see for myself. You see this is a site run and written by a rabbi by the name of Yitz Grossman and he has the most awesome posts written filled with not only love and compassion, but with a good amount of humor as well.
The first post that Yitz Grossman had on his page last night was about a women Irena Sendler who died in 2008 at the age of 98 and who did so much for the Jews in WWII and who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected although President Obama won the year before becoming President for his work as a community organizer for ACORN and Al Gore also won for a slide show on Global Warming. Both great causes, but nothing in comparison to what this woman had gone through and done for so many people during the time of the awful Nazis regime back then.
I have bookmarked this rabbi’s site and plan on going back and visiting from time to time and I would urge others to take a look-see around this wonderful site as well.

I enjoy learning new words and I found a website that has “A Slang Word A Day” that is being emailed to me each day. It has been pretty interesting, so far. Today’s word was one that I’m not familiar with – ‘Sunday Face’ which I am told means “One’s best and most presentable face, as presented in church on Sundays” I’m so glad that I’m not the type to learn a new word each day and has to use it at least once in their day, that could be a real challenge on some of these words.

My wife and daughter have been busy with wedding plans for the big day in April 1st, 2012. A wedding this size will take a lot of planning so I guess I should just get used to the idea that my wife will be pretty much tied up with my daughter until then. I don’t know squat about weddings, the only thing that I had to do at my own wedding was to provide the names and addresses of my friends and family members that I wanted to have invited, attend my bachelor party and show up the next afternoon at the church, oh and of course I had to remember to bring the ring.
I wasn’t involved with finding the perfect minister, ordering the wedding invitations, picking out the flowers or finding the perfect cheap bridesmaid dresses. So all of this preparation was left up to my future bride, her mother and sisters and a few close friends. I knew there was a lot to the whole deal, but now watching my wife and daughter and all that they are having to do makes me appreciate all that is involved in putting on a big event, such as a wedding, and I’m glad that once again I only have a few things that I will be in charge of. The main task for me will be making sure the groom is at the church on time!

There is something about Russel Brand that just intrigues me. Tonight I watched “Russel Brand, In New York City” on the TV while catching up on my emails and other computer related tasks. It was the first time that I have seen him as a stand up comedian for more than the 5 minutes or so that the stand ups all get for the short gig on all the late night TV shows that he has been making his rounds on a lot in the past few years.
He was born in the early part of June in 1975, an Englishman and is very well known as an actor, comedian, singer, columnist, author and radio/television presenter who is pumping out the movies left and right lately. I guess that is why he is on all the late night talk shows (as well as many of the daytime talk shows). I’ve seen a couple of his flicks and look forward to seeing the last couple that I haven’t had a chance to catch yet. But as to watching him for a full 42 minutes on The Comedy Channel doing his New York City stand up bit was just a bit over the top for me. He is funny, in an odd and freaky way, but he was far from having me rolling on the floor and/or holding my ribs and stomach in pain from a hard core belly laugh. After I just typed this I realized that there really isn’t that many stand ups that make me really laugh all that much these days anyway, but there are plenty that are hilarious and are always good for a laugh or two, hopefully more. I do enjoy good comedy, not much to laugh about in real life these days.
Is it just me or does Russel Brand bare a resemblance to the 1960′s and 1970 hit singer Tiny Tim, from Laugh-In?
