I was told some time ago about a really cool website that I should check out at http://yitzgrossmanlawrence.com. Unfortunate for me I didn’t take quick action on it, but last night I had a few minutes to kill online and I’m glad that I did take the time to find it and see for myself. You see this is a site run and written by a rabbi by the name of Yitz Grossman and he has the most awesome posts written filled with not only love and compassion, but with a good amount of humor as well.

The first post that Yitz Grossman had on his page last night was about a women Irena Sendler who died in 2008 at the age of 98 and who did so much for the Jews in WWII and who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected although President Obama won the year before becoming President for his work as a community organizer for ACORN and Al Gore also won for a slide show on Global Warming. Both great causes, but nothing in comparison to what this woman had gone through and done for so many people during the time of the awful Nazis regime back then.

I have bookmarked this rabbi’s site and plan on going back and visiting from time to time and I would urge others to take a look-see around this wonderful site as well.

The funniest one, that just had me rolling, was of a newly hired Preacher who had a church full of his Youth Group, along with their parents and other folks as well. It was a full house (church). I found the video on YouTube.com along with several other Preacher Bloopers and just had to share a couple with you.

My wife and daughter have been busy with wedding plans for the big day in April 1st, 2012. A wedding this size will take a lot of planning so I guess I should just get used to the idea that my wife will be pretty much tied up with my daughter until then. I don’t know squat about weddings, the only thing that I had to do at my own wedding was to provide the names and addresses of my friends and family members that I wanted to have invited, attend my bachelor party and show up the next afternoon at the church, oh and of course I had to remember to bring the ring.

I wasn’t involved with finding the perfect minister, ordering the wedding invitations, picking out the flowers or finding the perfect cheap bridesmaid dresses. So all of this preparation was left up to my future bride, her mother and sisters and a few close friends. I knew there was a lot to the whole deal, but now watching my wife and daughter and all that they are having to do makes me appreciate all that is involved in putting on a big event, such as a wedding, and I’m glad that once again I only have a few things that I will be in charge of. The main task for me will be making sure the groom is at the church on time!

There is something about Russel Brand that just intrigues me. Tonight I watched “Russel Brand, In New York City” on the TV while catching up on my emails and other computer related tasks. It was the first time that I have seen him as a stand up comedian for more than the 5 minutes or so that the stand ups all get for the short gig on all the late night TV shows that he has been making his rounds on a lot in the past few years.

He was born in the early part of June in 1975, an Englishman and is very well known as an actor, comedian, singer, columnist, author and radio/television presenter who is pumping out the movies left and right lately. I guess that is why he is on all the late night talk shows (as well as many of the daytime talk shows). I’ve seen a couple of his flicks and look forward to seeing the last couple that I haven’t had a chance to catch yet. But as to watching him for a full 42 minutes on The Comedy Channel doing his New York City stand up bit was just a bit over the top for me. He is funny, in an odd and freaky way, but he was far from having me rolling on the floor and/or holding my ribs and stomach in pain from a hard core belly laugh. After I just typed this I realized that there really isn’t that many stand ups that make me really laugh all that much these days anyway, but there are plenty that are hilarious and are always good for a laugh or two, hopefully more. I do enjoy good comedy, not much to laugh about in real life these days.

Is it just me or does Russel Brand bare a resemblance to the 1960′s and 1970 hit singer Tiny Tim, from Laugh-In?

?

Anyway, this photo was taken in a trailer park, you can see how the home made wooden stairs to the trailor are perfectly in tack whie the entire trailer, anchors and all were completely ripped up and taken away by he winds. Another oddity is the fact that the flowers in the flower beds beside the old wooden steps are still flowering, not a petal was found missing.

We haven’t really celebrated Easter like we used to since the kids have all grown and left the house. This year the wife has done a nice job in decorating the house up a bit and has invited all three kids to come over for a good old fashioned family Easter dinner with us. It will be nice to have the whole family together, haven’t had that since Christmas come to think of it. Hopefully it will be a nice day. Easter is coming late this year, not until the end of April so there is a good chance that it will be a nice warm day and we can spend a good amount of the day outside in the yard and on the patio, just like back in the day.

The wife has even dug out the old Easter baskets out of the basement. She just needs to buy some new fake grass and start buying a bunch of candies to fill them up with so as to have one for each one of them to take back home with them. She is even considering having an Easter egg hunt, which could be fun, but finding harder hiding places for these eggs just might be a challenge. Besides having candies in these plastic eggs we will have to have some other types of goodies to put inside of them so I’ll be in charge of getting some interesting coins to use and maybe some gift certificates or gift cards would be a good idea as well. It should be fun and I’ll be taking pictures.

I can’t imagine growing with parents that were old time hippies, such as my wife did. The stories that she can tell about the wacky adventures of the “McGee” family back in the day are truly interesting and entertaining, I never get tired of going to their family events and hearing the stories and seeing the pictures that they bring out from time to time. They didn’t have a lot of material items back then, but they did manage to own a camera or two and they enjoyed taking pictures from their travels in their old VW bus that still sits in their back yard, not running these days, but it still looks good and they would never consider parting with it. Heck, for all I know they may have it in their will that they get buried in it. Wouldn’t surprise me any, I can tell you that.

Anyway, as most of you know, hippies had a big agenda. One of their main interests were taking care of and saving our Mother Earth and back then there wasn’t a whole lot that a person could do to help in that endeavor besides recycling and protesting. Now a days, with the big “green push,” we have a lot of ways to help keep our planet healthy and my wife is always looking for new ways to help the environmental issue. She has found a listing of web site hosting providers that are doing what they can to become as “green” as they can and she wants to switch over from our current webhosting to one that is one the list that she found on Webhostinggeeks.com. They show a top ten list of Green Web Hosting and a short blurb of their features. Interesting how they list their “green” attributes. GreenGeeks states that they are 300% Green Hosting, going to have to check into that.

I’ve been invited to attend our local Elk’s lodge’s annual Flag Ceremony and Picnic that is being held this coming Saturday afternoon. I have several friends that belong to the Elk’s lodge here in town. They are always after me to join their lodge and I find myself being invited to several of the events that they hold each year. They are always a good time, they have some fine members that belong to this Civic Organization that does wonderful things for our community. I just don’t see myself joining any of these groups with so much on my plate all ready. But one day I just might break down and join, who knows.

I’ve been hearing on the television news that Barack Obama visited the Wailing Wall and left a written prayer in between the cracks only to have the paper removed and sold to a tabloid paper, who ran the prayer. This is just such a very sad commentary on the lack of morals of so many people in today’s world. I can only shake my head in disgust at the situation.

Every now and then I hear about another Doomsday Cult, predicting the end of the world. I always wonder, when I hear about them, if their leader might be right! But, the predicted doomsday date comes and goes, and we are all still here. I expect one day there really WILL be a doomsday, but I think it will be caused by a nuclear weapons or chemical weapons act of war.

The most recent doomsday cult I’ve heard about is a Russian cult that believed that the world was coming to an end this month, and they were hiding in a cave. I guess they thought that by hiding in a cave they would survive the apocalypse. They threatened mass suicide if authorities tried to forcibly remove them from the cave. Eventually two women in the group died, and the stench of their rotting corpses is what finally drove the group out of the cave. I read that their group leader has tried to commit suicide because he was upset that the world did NOT end when he predicted it to end. Authorities have diagnosed him with schizophrenia. So I guess the voices in his head made him think that he could predict doomsday.

Well, I think that the world is in a lot of trouble, but I’m glad doomsday hasn’t happened yet!

I find it incredibly said, in this day and age that there is still so much ignorance and stupidity handed down from parent to child. I say this in regard to bigotry. There are so many hate crimes committed in this country, and I think that the parents of the perpetrators hold much of the blame. If the parents would teach their children to accept people for who they are, these hate crimes would not happen. The current hate crime that has come to my attention, which is triggering my tirade of the day is a story I read about two Mormon teenagers who were attacked in an Arizona park simply because they were Mormons. The story reads that there was a conflict between two groups of teenagers in the park. One group asked the other group if any of them were Mormons. When two young men admitted to being Mormon, they were assaulted. During the attack, anti-Mormon statements were said by the attackers. One of the victims was hospitalized because the wounds were severe enough to warrant being hospitalized. Two suspects have been arrested.

I don’t know what the maximum sentence of a hate crime is in Arizona, but I hope they get the maximum penalty! There simply is no excuse for Hate Crimes, and we should have a zero tolerance policy for them.
