BUNDLING EVERYTHING

Thanks for the guest post by Donn Schroeder

Using one service provider for our internet service and cable has made my life a lot easier. I recently switched to a bundle deal with a new company because I was having trouble with my last cable company. I could never get a hold of anyone or work my way through the phone tree. I would often find mistakes in my bill and it would take me thirty minutes to get everything straightened out on the phone. Sometimes things didn’t get straightened out and I would end up having to call again! I was spending at least an hour a month talking to the cable company on the phone. Now since I have bundled with a new company, I can pay my bill on-line for both services. The service is not spotty and I actually ended up saving a pretty good bit of money. The best part about my new service is that I don’t have to get on the phone every single month to correct my cable bill. My internet speed is actually must faster than it was before too, so I can stream internet movies and watch videos on YouTube. I wish that I had thought of this sooner!

Kindle or Nook?

Posted on January 6th, 2012 by Jerry under Computers and/or Internet, Education and Personal Growth, Entertainment and Fun, Friends/Family, Opinion, Shopping, Technology and gadgets.

Today my wife and I went to the local Staples store so we could take a look at the two e-readers that are the ones most widely publicized. We both got Amazon.com gift cards as Christmas gifts, and we were thinking about using them to buy a Kindle, but we wanted to make sure that we liked the Kindle better than a Nook. After all, they seem to be the same price range. The sales person tried to convince us to buy the new Kindle Fire, but we decided on the Kindle Touch Wi-Fi, and went home and ordered it online so we could use the gift cards. We only had enough money on the gift cards to buy one Kindle, so I guess we will have to share the Kindle for a while under we can afford a second one.  I don’t know, maybe our second e-reader will be a Nook!

Too many magnets?

Posted on December 28th, 2011 by Jerry under Computers and/or Internet, Friends/Family, Life, Shopping.

Recently my wife got interested in magnetic therapy. She has arthritis in her wrists, and she’s met a few people who suggested that she try magnetic therapy as a method of treating her arthritis. Well, she decided that she had basically nothing to lose, and found some pretty magnetic bracelets on the Internet. One of the bracelets looks like it is studded with diamonds and sapphires. It really is very pretty.

She has bought probably around ten magnetic bracelets, and two necklaces so far. She has been layering them on, and I’m wondering if it is possible for her to be wearing too many magnets. What do you think?

Canon Camera Battery Search

Posted on December 22nd, 2011 by Jerry under Entertainment and Fun, Money and Finances, Shopping, Technology and gadgets.

Getting all the last minute tasks done in preparation for all of the Christmas festivities that are only a few days away. There is always so much to be done and so little time no matter how hard we try and there is always a kink in the best laid plans. My big kink at this point is my Canon camera battery that I discovered it dead, so now I am on the look out for a good deal on a Canon digital camera battery so that I can be ready to take photos as I generally do each Christmas.

I got this new Canon digital camera for Christmas and it didn’t come with the usual Canon battery chargers and I really didn’t think it was a big deal up until now. I really hate last minute issues, but I guess it could be worse. I could have found out that the darn thing was broken and have to run out and spend money on a new one instead of buying Christmas presents for the people that I care so much for at this point in my life.

A matter of preference

Posted on December 21st, 2011 by Jerry under Entertainment and Fun, Life, Opinion, Shopping.

When I was a kid, I took riding lessons using english horse tack. I wasn’t given a choice, that is what I was taught. I remember wanting to ride western, but that was not an option. At first I thought it was awkward, not having a big old horn on the saddle to hang onto, but I got used to it. After a while I found myself preferring using it. I felt as if I had better control of the horse, gripping with my knees. Seems to me that when I would ride western after that I simply felt terrible. No one ever explained to me the right way to ride western, so I always felt like I was going to fall out of the saddle – the leather was too stiff for me to grip with my knees.
