On The Subject Of Heaters

I was totally caught off guard when I noticed when I went into the basement this morning that my water heater does not have an insulated blanket over it. It seems to me that I put one on it a couple of years ago. Last year I had some maintenance work done on my furnace and water heater, I think that the maintenance man might have removed the water heater blanket when he was checking out the water heater. I wonder why he didn’t put it back on, maybe he ruined it when he removed it. Looks like I am going to have to go buy a new one here real soon as old man winter seems to be pounding rather loudly on our door.

While on the subject of heaters, I have been seriously thinking about finding one of those outdoor patio heaters that I’ve been reading and hearing about. As much time as I spend outdoors all year round here, I am hating the fact that winter is fast approaching and that I’m going to be freezing my rear end off so much of the time just taking care of all the things that need to be taken care of by me and me alone. We had a very mild winter last year and I still stayed cold most of the time. I am hearing that we are going to pay dearly for that mild winter and I do believe that we are. It is all ready getting very cold at night and it is only September for goodness sake. I am so not ready for the sleet, rain and snow that is inevitable here real soon and I do believe that one, maybe two of these handy dandy outdoor patio heaters just might be a great solution, better than the metal drums that I’ve used in the past that I build a fire in to help keep me warm. I am always afraid that this isn’t the safest way to keep a fire going outside although I’ve never had a problem with one yet, but I’ve heard stories…….

Finally found some time to look online to research, as I promised at Easter dinner last night, and find the best cheap postcard printing options for my kid sister’s boyfriend. He is starting his own landscaping company and wants to try various marketing attempts in order to get the word out and get some business drummed up as soon as possible. There is a lot of money out there in this type of business, but a lot of competition to try and get over, around and/or above and I will help him (for my kid sisters sake) in any way that I can.

They have managed to stay together (without a lot of unnecessary drama) for over two years, so this just might be the one. He is a good enough guy to get along with when I see him on occassion. A step up from previous relationships, in the whole families opinion. With that said I guess I better sign off and get my butt in gear and send him the links that I have come up with and see what he says about that before proceeding. The weather is getting nicer with each day that arrives and there a tons of landscapers taking advantage of it.

My wife has been thinking about getting some new window boxes for our house this spring.  When we first bought this house it already have several window flower boxes on some of the windows and we’ve used them throughout the years to help the house looking cozy and inviting.  One of the things that she likes to do with a window box is to not just use it for traditional flowers but also to use them to decorate through out the different holiday seasons.  For example she used pine garlands and holly with small white twinkle lights in them for last Christmas. Next month you can be sure to see some type of Easter decorating going on, possibly some mini Easter Eggs and some multicolored mini twinkle lights and whatever she feels like getting into.

When she was decorating them back before Christmas, we noticed that they were starting to rot.  The old boxes are made of wood and are quite old.  So I agreed that come spring we’d replace them with some new ones.  It wasn’t until she started looking on the Internet for some new ones that I realized that there are so many different styles to choose from!  I’m going to have her pick out the ones she wants and I’ll handle the rest.

Looks like I know what I’ll be doing this Saturday for most of the day, at least I hope it doesn’t take a huge chunk of the day to help my brother-in-law install the brand new rheen pool heater that the UPS delivery person brought to his door this afternoon. He used all of the gift cards that he and my sister received for Christmas, along with some additional money to purchase this rheem pool heater. They got a sweat online deal, took their time did their research, and utilized a coupon that was being offered their online customers at poolsupplyunlimited.com and have been counting down the days for it to actually arrive.

I don’t mind helping out one bit. It is supposed to be a good weather weekend, so that is a plus. They have always had an open invitation extended to me to use their pool, which we have taken them up on a few times through out the years. I’m glad that we all get along so well and that they aren’t all that far away. Most of our other family members have flown the coop and are scattered all across the state and many out of state. Which puts a strain on families these days and makes holiday planning a nightmare, but that is another story for another time.

Anyone in the event supplies and concession machines business would certainly be interested in reading the information provided by the Infographic below about some of the facts along with the risks involved in setting up and/or attending any type of Rock Festival. It’s been a long time since I’ve attended any type of outside musical performance/event. They have become way too loud and way too crowed for me to enjoy since I’ve become middle-aged. But I’ve got some pretty good memories that I can look back on and enjoy and plenty of record albums, cassettes and CDs to keep me in music for a very long time.
