It’s All Out There For Us

All the information is there to see at http://www.oas.samhsa.gov/ where all the Substance Abuse and Mental Health statistics that are showing us that there is a rise for the need of good drug rehabilitation programs. Of course there are various and numerous reasons that factor the increased need for addiction treatment centers. I do believe that this totally messed up economy is making us all crazy. It’s taking it’s toll on the general public, most of which see no indication of any type of light at the end of any tunnel that is going to pull us out of this crisis, no wonder we are getting addiction issues that are spiraling out of control.

It’s good to know that more attention is being paid to substance and mental health issues. There are some nice drug rehab centers and alcohol rehab centers to be found online. Using the Internet makes choosing the right treatment plans a much easier task to take on. There is a lot of information out there, and it does take time to weed through a ton of irrelevant pages and such nonsense, but it still is a valuable tool and should be utilized for all that it’s worth when you can. Can’t imagine life without Internet access all though I know that there is still a huge population that doesn’t have access for one reason or another. I do know that Bill Gates is doing an awesome job in helping folks hop on to the World Wide Web with all of his donations of computers and supplies.

Saw an interesting television show

Posted on August 12th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Education and Personal Growth, Entertainment and Fun, Life, Shopping.

I was watching an interesting television show about counterfeiting.  Not counterfeiting money, but counterfeiting brand name fashion designs.  I can’t remember the famous names, except for Gucci, but the show made some interesting points about the hidden dangers of counterfeit goods.  Some of the counterfeit goods contain harmful materials in them!  I wonder how many people have bought counterfeit goods and ended up getting sick from them.

Take this job

Posted on August 12th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Home and garden, Life.

Mike called me and asked me to help with a tiling job. His client had bought some new Subway tiles and wanted them professionally installed in her pool house.

The contractor that Mike had hired to lay the tiles didn’t show up for the job, and Mike was in a bind. He had promised the client that the job would be done by the end of the week, and his contractor was nowhere to be found.

I don’t like laying bathroom tiles. It just isn’t my specialty. I agreed to go out and help Mike with it, but only two hours into the job the client came into the pool house and started demanding to know why the job wasn’t finished yet and started cursing me out because the job wasn’t finished. I tried to explain to the customer that I wasn’t the original contractor; I was just called in that morning, and I was trying to get it done as soon as possible. The customer kept yelling and cursing, so I just put my trowel down and said “I’m done now.” and walked out to my truck and drove myself home. I don’t need that kind of guff from anyone!

Reunions

Posted on August 12th, 2010 by Jerry under Education and Personal Growth, Entertainment and Fun, Life, Opinion.

I am hearing rumors that another high school reunion is in the makes. I have only attended one of my reunions and really don’t see the need to keep going back time and time again. But one of my closest friends, from school, is really excited about this next one and is insisting that I go with him. He is on the quiet side and doesn’t want to have to sit alone and by himself all night. I can understand that.

I think that it’s funny

My wife got a big kick out of finding two seperate wedding invitations in the mail today from my cousin Rick and his fiance Jaylin.  One was addressed to me, and one to her.  They were hand addressed by two different people.  I guess there’s just a little bit of confusion going on in the bride’s support network!  Regardless, they are only getting one wedding gift from us!

Medical advancements

I can’t remember how long it has been since Mom could go places without her portable oxygen concentrator in tow. I’m really grateful that she is able to get her oxygen for such reasonable rates.  I don’t think people realize how difficult life can be when you need to have oxygen tubes up your nose all day every day.  But I have to give Mom a lot of credit – she doesn’t let it bring her down.

Kraft

Posted on August 11th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Food, Health, Money and Finances, Opinion, Shopping.

A few weeks ago I purchased some cheese at my local Food Lion. I reached into the fridge over the weekend to cut some of the cheese up to eat. It had not been opened yet, but I noticed that it has mold all over it. I checked out the “Best Used If By date” and it was still a few weeks away.

I was told that if you have a problem with a product and they supply you with a toll free phone number, to call it and inform them of their product’s issue(s). So I did and the lady was very nice and told me that a coupon is on the way in order to replace the cheese. So I have to say “Kudos” to Kraft! They stand behind their products.

Are bundles the best

Posted on August 11th, 2010 by Jerry under Business, Friends/Family, Life, Money and Finances, Parenting.

My wife and I have always thought that we would get the cheapest auto insurance by bundling it together with our homeowner insurance.  So that is what we’ve been doing ever since we got married.  Recently we’ve been talking about trying to reduce our expenses and I’ve been shopping around for lower interest rates.  Since our oldest son got a speeding ticket three years ago, I’m afraid that changing companies at this time will only increase our premiums.

Planning ahead

Posted on August 8th, 2010 by Jerry under Computers and/or Internet, Entertainment and Fun, Friends/Family, Life, Opinion, Shopping.

This year we are planning to attend the Elk’s annual Halloween party.  We went last year and had a blast!  The only drawback was that the room was filled with cigarrette smoke, and that made us uncomfortable.  But this year we installed some air filters that will help to clean the air well enough that the smoke shouldn’t be quite so bad.  Personally I’d like to see the Elks mandate smoke-free events, but then the attendence would probably drop down drastically.  My wife thinks that more people would attend, but that doesn’t seem to be the opinion of the people who are in charge of parties!

Last year my wife wore a really sexy cop costume to the party.  She wore a body suit underneath, though, so as not to upset the older ladies!  This year she is planning to buy and wear a sexy pirate costume to the party.  She has quite a collection of sexy Halloween costumes to choose from over the many different Internet stores that sell costumes!

Personally, I like the costumes that my wife sews herself.  She is a very creative woman, and when she sews the costume herself she is guaranteed to show up at the party with a one-of-a-kind costume!  I can remember a few parties that we’ve gone to in the past where several women showed up wearing the same costume, and they were quite unhappy with that situation!

I am guessing that with the popularity of television shows that feature vampires, that there will be a huge “run” on vampire costumes this year.  Last year there were a lot of really fantastic looking vampire costumes at the party, but the costume that took the first prize in the costume contest was really rather disappointing to me – it was a guy dressed like a short-order cook.  I think politics were in play there; a lot of costumes were much better than that!

I find that hard to believe

Posted on August 3rd, 2010 by Jerry under Friends/Family, Health, Life, Shopping.

Steve told me that he was looking for a good product to take to help him lose weight. He told me that he is thinking about using noxycut for that. I told him that I was reading a review about that product and that it claims that although it will help the user to lose fat, the user will not lose weight. The product claims that the product will turn fat into muscle! That sure sounds like a miracle drug to me!  I can’t imagine that would happen without some serious exercising going on!
