Five Hour Energy

My son drinks those Five Hour Energy drinks, and it worries me. I’ve heard on the news that these energy drinks are not healthy for people at all. In fact I’ve heard that they are down-right dangerous. My wife keeps reassuring me that they are no worse for a person than drinking one cup of coffee, but I find that hard to believe. I’ve asked my son why he doesn’t just drink a cup of coffee if that is all it basically is. His reply is “I don’t like coffee, or tea, and I’m not supposed to drink a soda in front of my clients, so I drink these instead if I need a ‘pick-me-up.’” What do you think of these energy drinks?

Flower delivery for Easter

Margie called me last night and asked me if I could help her out this weekend with a flower delivery job. She has been given a very large order coming up for Easter and her regular delivery driver fell down some stairs yesterday and broke his leg, so he is unable to drive for the next six weeks. I told her I’d be glad to help – it will be a fun change of pace for me to drive around town and deliver flowers!

Irises are blooming

Yesterday afternoon I was walking up the sidewalk from the driveway to the front door of the house and noticed that the irises have started to bloom already. I think irises are beautiful and would like to order some more from the mail-order catalog that we get several times a year. I can’t remember if the catalog is from Breck’s bulbs or Spring Hill nursery, but I have had good luck with everything I’ve ever ordered from them. I’ve tried other companies before, like Michigan Flowers and had very poor luck with them. The biggest problem that I have with flower gardening, though, is picking out which ones that I want – they are all so pretty that I’d like to have them all! Of course I can’t afford them all, and taking care of all of the plants would be more work than I’m capable of doing, but that doesn’t stop me from wishing!

Discount Uggs boots

One of the things that I was looking for at the clothing clearance sale was some discount uggs boots for my daughter. She has been begging for a pair of uggs boots for the past couple of years, and I have resisted buying them for her because I have read that although those boots have a reputation for being comfortable, that they really do not provide the correct amount of arch support that feet need. But I figured that if I could find them for a great price then I would buy some orthopedic insoles for them and let her be happy.

American made products

Many people that I know have vowed to “only buy American made products” in an effort to support our troubled economy. To be perfectly honest, I have tried very hard to live up to that ideal as well. To be honest, though, when shopping at the local stores to buy new clothes, I have not been able to stick to that ideal. Almost every item of clothing that I see for sale in the stores has been made in a foreign country. For a while I determined to simply not buy clothes for a while, so I could take my time finding American made products. Well, today I went shopping at a local supermarket and found that the store had a large number of clothing items for sale for only $1. Yes, I said $1. Brand new dress shirts, dress pants, sweaters, sweat shirts, all for $1. I have to say that at that point in time I did break down and buy a lot of the items that were on that sale. I did not even look at the tags to see where they were made. I feel guilty, but what can I say, they were a huge bargain and my family could use the new clothes. Can you say you would have acted differently?
